Photographer Beth Campbell took the original iconic shot of a sturgeon fisherman checking his lines on July 15, 1983. There was no sturgeon fishing going on when I arrived there around 9:00 a.m., possibly because the regulations now restrict it to catch and release. I looked for the spot where the original photo was taken and held up my copy of the book and snapped away.
